Memoirs of Emma Courtney is an epistolary novel by Mary Hays, first published in 1796. The theme is autobiographical, being based on Hays' own relationship with William Frend. She wrote the book to relieve her feelings, following a correspondence with William Godwin. Her action in revealing her most personal emotions was considered somewhat scandalous at the time.
